The inspiration for my first GRB collection was simple. I wanted luxury, I wanted cashmere and I wanted timeless baby clothes that would last. I also wanted babies to look cool while they were wearing them. Grey has always been one of my favorite colors, so I started my search in a book on one of my favorite designers, Christian Dior. Images of his signature grey silk Peau de Soie slipper chairs and plush silk carpeting in his salon in the 1950s were both inspirational and gorgeous. Not enough people put babies in grey, I thought, and it’s such a beautiful, chic, classic color. I am also a lover of black and white photography so while I was looking through my vast library of books I stumbled upon 2 images of the cutest grey rabbits. Thus the name Grey Rabbit Baby. My love of cashmere, (who doesn’t love cashmere?!) and craftsmanship were two other essential elements for the collection.

This first season is like an appetizer to me - it is a start, a place to design all my favorite classic, sweaters and finish them with matching hats and slippers. (I don’t like the word ‘booties’.) And what’s cooler than a newborn baby in a pair of cashmere slippers lined with shearling?
