To celebrate the occasion of being born, Grey Rabbit Baby hand knits soft, luxurious and timeless knitwear for newborn babies. Each and every item in our collection is made from the highest quality Italian cashmere yarn. It’s our dream that our clothes will be part of your family for generations to come.
"I live in a small building in NYC with many families, some of whose kids are my husband Peter’s patients. Our building is very close knit, (pardon the pun) and I seemed to be surrounded by more and more babies and toddlers by the day. In other words, babies were multiplying like rabbits.” Inspired by these friends and our extended families, I saw a need for high quality, stylish newborn clothes that would last.
“I founded Grey Rabbit Baby with a mission to create timeless, quality cashmere knitwear that will provide comfort, warmth and luxury for a baby’s first months of life - and last for generations to come. Not for just any occasion, I wanted to create the most special gift for the incredible occasion of being born. It is my hope that these heritage pieces will be a part of your family long after your baby has outgrown them.” - Bob
Knit by hand and made of 100% pure Italian cashmere, GRB uses the highest quality materials available to ensure that the clothes endure as they are passed from generation to generation.
Bob - The Boss
A native of Chicago, Bob grew up with an adventurous family led by his fearless and creative mother Bonnie. He attended the Parsons School of Design where he graduated with a BFA in fashion, and went on to design for a range of luxury fashion brands including Jones New York, Esprit, Ralph Lauren, and Gant. His career as a fashion executive inspired him to pursue a range of other interests, including landscape architecture, interior design and production design for film and television.
After 30 years in fashion, Bob realized it was time to apply his expertise to a baby line - one of the few avenues he’d yet to explore. Grey Rabbit Baby was inspired by Peter, Bob’s husband and partner of 30 years, who is a pediatrician, as well as the warm and sophisticated growing families in his New York neighborhood.
Bob and Peter currently live in New York City with their pup Jimmy.
Spider - Ideologist
Daughter of a single mother in the midlands of England, fashion was Spider’s escape to a world of glamour and beauty. After graduating with a Masters in fashion and textile design from the Royal College of Art, she lived in Paris and Italy, designing for Daniel Hechter, Jean Charles de Castelbajac, Cacharel and Claude Montana. Spider came to New York on holiday and never went back, staying to design for Esprit, TSE cashmere, Forte Cashmere and Abercrombie & Fitch. In 2000, she realized her ambition of becoming Design Director for Nordstrom's Caslon division.
Spider’s second ambition was to become a Park Ranger. For 2 years, she was on the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agencies brush crew, and she became a Park Ranger for the agency in 2004. In Simon Doonan’s 2005 book “Wacky Chicks,” Spider was featured as the fearless and inspirational fashion designer turned park ranger. However, she always kept her hand in fashion. She has a vintage textile studio, and is a guest lecturer for the National Institute of Fashion and Technology in New Delhi and Mumbai. Now Spider brings this expertise to her role as ideologist of Grey Rabbit Baby.
Her loves include husband Alan, her cabin in Joshua Tree, CA, and the world around her, including a menagerie of snakes and lizards.
